I think the largest reson that most live steam boards are slow is because it is a fairly small hobby with a large number of members who are older and may not be computer savy. Most club websites in our area do not even have a forum open to the general public.

As Tom mentioned chaski is one of the most popular and active boards, there is also the yahoo live diesel and live steam groups which are also somewhat active. We have several members of our club who monitor our forum and try to answer any questions that get posted here.

We mainly use this forum to keep people up to date on what is happening at our club. When I resume building my Shay I will post the progress here and I might do a post on building riding cars here in the future. I will also be giving one of our club engines a cosmetic overhaul in the near future and will post that here also.

Try  http://www.chaski.org/homemachinist/ It has been a rough board to post on in the past, but lately it has not been that bad.

Why are all scale steamer forums always dead as a doornail?  Ive been browsing several forums for a few weeks and the only new threads in all of them have been the ones ive started...

many of them the most recent post was summer last year or even older....

I cant believe the hobby is dying that fast..there must be another reason .....
