Today, June 24, 2010 Steve and I rented a U-Haul trailer and drove up to Real Trains in Yucaipa. We loaded about 4300 (15 foot sections) feet of new aluminum track into the trailer and brought it back to the club where we unloaded it.
While at Real Trains, we took a short tour of the facility and were both quite impressed. It is a first class operation with some very up to date equipment to handle just about any manufacturing requirement. From laser cutters to huge CNC mills and rapid prototype systems they pretty much have it all. They also had a very impressive inventory of part for their Berkshire locomotive as well as many other goodies that we all drool over every time we look at the catalog. All in all it was a nice trip, they are not that far and everyone we met up there was very nice and helpful. Now Steve and I just have to recover from loading and unloading 1800 pounds of track and we will be ready for this Saturday's run. The new track will first be used to replace the worn track on the the curves at various places on our layout. It will also be used for some new turnouts and sidings that will be placed around the layout to give us more options while running. The next goodies to be received will be the new plastic ties that will be used for the new track and to replace the old rotting out wood ties around the layout. Phil |

I used to be a rocket scientist, now I am just a space cadet.
------------------------------ You only need three tools in life - WD-40, Duct Tape, and a Hammer. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem. |
