Hi all, Im new here and to Live steam but am jumping in with both feet. My name is Mark and i reside in Murrieta Ca. I received a 1" scale Little Engines 4-4-2 atlantic from a family member this weekend and hope to get it steaming in the not to distant future. The loco isnt in to bad of shape it has some surface rust and is missing a few pieces such as the smoke box door, blow off valves, and a few small fittings here and there. the running gear was well oiled before it was stored though there was oil left in the injector box and in the tender but apon inspection there doesnt appear to be much damage from rust. the boiler tubes look to be in good shape and not rusted on the inside. I have read one of the other posts on getting a little 0-4-0 running for a project by one of the other club members and will probably follow the same steps to unstick the running gear. any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated with this undertaking. I have emailed Little Engines already and will be ordering a copy of their catalog soon in hopes that I can get the missing parts from them. The engine originaly belonged to Merle Mitchell of Eagle Rock if any one knew him. It is my understanding that it has only been run on compressed air but there is fuel oil in the tender either by Merle or another family member with grand plans.

Tom, Thanks for the invite that would be great. What does the loco need to have to have the boiler tested? it is missing the popoffs but overall as far as the boiler goes I believe it is all intact. I would love to talk talk to you guys regarding the loco and get all and any help I can. When would be a good time to bring it up?
Mark

If you contact us ahed of time we can do the boiler test for you. We need to be able to close all valves going to the boiler so it wont leak. We have an assortment of fittings and plugs to seal up the pop offs which need to be off for testing anyway. Before you bring it down just try to fill the boiler with water to see what needs to be sealed off.

Hi Mark and welcome. Why don't you try and come down this Saturday if you can. It is our general club business meeting from 10:30 to about 11:30 and then our public run day from 12 PM to 3 PM. After that we are having a pot luck BBQ. We will be running trains into the night. It is a lot of fun. You can get some throttle time and see how you like it.

I used to be a rocket scientist, now I am just a space cadet.

Hi guys, sorry for the long delay in getting back to the forums i didn't check the Email me button so had not realized there were more posts. I did talk to Mike at Little Engines on the east coast and he told me he had all the parts I needed in stock and could ship them when he returned to town. He is apparently in the military and travels almost 300 days out of the year but said to leave him a message and when he got home he would return my call. As far as my engine goes I have gotten the running gear freed up and rolling smoothly. Phil, I am going to find a Weekend to come out for a club meeting and see what its all about.
Thanks, Mark
