There is a Yahoo group called "Livediesel" and there is a lot of info on their message Board. it is a good site and if you ask something on it you don't get reamed out by some nuts like some other Board's.
I just replaced the pump and valve on my backyard rails GP60. I got them from Northern Tool. They have a web site but their catalog is better. They are also a good place to get seats for your riding car.
On the pump, the size of pump is based on the size of the motor you have to run it, but there are only 3 sizes that get used most of the time. An 11 GPM, 13.6 GPM and a 16 GPM. I used a 13.6 GPM #1053-2001 as it was the biggest one you can put on a 8 Hp motor. You will need to get a mounting bracket and coupler to fit it to your motor.
On the valve I used a 2 way détente valve FOR AN OPEN CENTER SYSTEM it has a spring back to neutral which I have fond works good so you don't have a run a way. The pump will come with info telling you how to plumb the system for your loco. I used an in-line hydraulic screen as I tried a fitter and it seemed to me to slow the flow down too much.
The Eaton pumps work good on the smaller locos but they cost more and run hot. If I was going to build a new loco I would go with a battery system as the costs are close to the same but you don't get the lawn mower noise and smell. The ones I have run can pull a ton. are easy to use, and can run for a long time on a charge.
