The cog railway has 7 Biodiesel locomotives, they’re all Jhon Deere tier two engines, similar to what is used to run a cornbinder. Last time I was at the cog railway in 2005 they had 7 steam locomotives running. The Biodiesel’s are much more efficient, low maintenance only one crew man needed to run it and it’s quiet. Most riders don’t care if it’s a Steam powered train. But fortunately enough people are interested in riding a steam powered cog railway train so they have one that makes two trips up and down the mountain a day and they’re always sold out. |
