Yeah he had a good time on it, it's alot more challenging than the American to run. It only had a few minor bugs to work out. It was a very successful first steam.

No, It's about 2 years old. It's a TIG/Stick machine. I used it so I could get a good weld with lots of penatration so the catch wont break again.

I used the tractor to lift it and hauled it in my truck. Just strapped it up good and hung some red flags off it. It's back in the ground now and works great.

Found out a little history on our ol' caboose. It was built in 1928 by American Car and Foundry as ATSF #1729. In 1969 it was rebuilt to a Ce-2 and renumbered 999516. On 1/10/86 it was sold to "Flight Traing Devices" of Barstow CA. This info kindly was provided by Kimball McGinley on chatski.

that would be a good loco for Jim to take on road trips-meets at other clubs when we go as a group as its nice looking and not so big and heavy as his other locos. would be grate to see it running around a little bit at so cal too

if we could get all the members and club steammers up and running I think maybe we would have at lest 15-17 livesteam locos running at the club, now that would be a show

If you look closely at that engine it would be a great candidate for an eletric conversion. The chassis has enough room to hide the motors, and the tender is big enough for the batteries and speed controller. We could even hook up a smoke machine to it.
